Live-Musik im Konzertfoyer mit Musiker*innen des Tonhalle-Orchesters Zürich
Gustav Mahler had no idea that there would one day be a format called tonhalleCRUSH. But he was well aware of the concept of a confrontation of different styles. He incorporated ländler and klezmer sounds into his First Symphony, and the canon "Frère Jacques" becomes a funeral march in a minor-key version. Paavo Järvi now conducts and comments on this symphony. And afterwards, orchestral musicians will demonstrate in the foyer that they also enjoy playing completely different styles. In which direction will it go (Ländler? Klezmer? Children's songs? Or something completely different?): That will be decided a few weeks before the concert.
