The three Italian musicians, who study as Trio Concept at the Basel University of Applied Sciences, can start the 2025/26 season as prize winners: Their trio has been voted a "Rising Star" by the European Concert Hall Organisation, a network of major European concert halls. The name of the ensemble is a reference to Michelangelo, who once said that no artist has a concept that is not already contained in a block of marble. For them, the works - in this case trios by Mendelssohn and Weinberg - are the material from which musical beauty must be chiselled anew in every performance.
