The Latvian organist Iveta Apkalna, who presented herself in very different facets as a focus artist for the 2023/24 season, returns for an organ recital. In it, she combines works by Bach and Philip Glass - two composers who, in her view, have two things in common: Transcendence and drive. Incidentally, the American minimalist Glass himself was once asked in an interview whether he had a special relationship with Bach. He then recounted an episode from his lessons with Nadia Boulanger that certainly suggests a certain kinship: she had presented him with a middle part from Bach - and he had been able to derive the correct bass and melody from it.
