Piano recital: András Schiff
Schlaghajegh Nosrati Schlaghajegh Nosrati Klavier (Contrapunctus XIII)
Shortly after his debut as conductor of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, András Schiff presents himself in a recital. The programme includes Bach's "Art of Fugue" - a work that the Hungarian pianist only played for the first time in a concert in 2024. This is all the more astonishing given that he has probably never studied any composer more intensively than Bach throughout his career: he once said in an interview that he starts every day with an hour of Bach. And he has long been recognised as one of the great Bach interpreters: His pianistic approach is "always playful, clearly structured and highly poetic", read a tribute to Schiff's 70th birthday in the NZZ: "approachable and otherworldly at the same time".
