Two years ago, the cello section of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich presented itself as an ensemble for the first time, and the success was so overwhelming that a performance was scheduled in the main hall last season. This is now the venue for the third concert by the twelve cellists, and this time they are aiming even higher: by taking on excerpts from two operas. On the one hand, there will be arrangements from Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro" and on the other, "Prelude and Liebestod" from Wagner's "Tristan und Isolde". There is no need for singers or a stage set. But all the more musical energy to do justice to the charm, drama and melancholy of this music.
