This season, the chamber music lunch concert series offers a "Homage to France". This concert centres on Nadia Boulanger, who was not only a talented composer but also a highly sought-after teacher. Accordingly, her "Trois pièces" will be combined with works by her pupils: Jean Françaix was among them, as was Aaron Copland. And then there was Quincy Jones, an already successful jazz trumpeter and arranger who attended her lessons and later produced Michael Jackson's album "Thriller", among others: There is a trio by him that was created for Steven Spielberg's film "The Color Purple". The programme concludes with a Shakespeare-inspired work by our Creative Chair Thomas Adès, who, as a conductor of Copland works, fits perfectly into this environment.
