Franz Welser-Möst with Adès and Strauss
Franz Welser-Möst is fondly remembered by local audiences as the former General Music Director of Zurich Opera House - now he is conducting instrumental excerpts from two operas: Thomas Adès' "The Exterminating Angel" and Strauss' "Rosenkavalier". Welser-Möst, who has found a second home in Zurich as a regular guest conductor with the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, once again demonstrates his flair for surprising and harmonious combinations of works. Both works are set in a distinguished society, but in different genres: Adès' piece is a psychological thriller based on a Buñuel film, while "Der Rosenkavalier" is one of the most famous comedies in opera history. Even if there is no singing on this evening: You will still experience the atmosphere of both operas at first hand.
