Most silent and black-and-white films were made in the early days of film history. But even in the 21st century, the occasional film is still made: for example, the highly original, multi-award-winning "Blancanieves" by Pablo Berger from 2012. This "free to ludicrous adaptation of the 'Snow White' story" relocates the action to a family of bullfighters. There is also an evil stepmother and a poisonous apple. And a film score by Alfonso de la Villalonga that is anything but black and white: it is performed live here under the direction of Frank Strobel. The film is accompanied by flamenco songs.
